"Human characteristics" poll
Do you think human characteristics like charity and cupidity are inherent or learned--or both?
This also may be an unknown. As far as I know no region of the brain or gene has been identified to favor any human characteristic such abstractions as charity or cupidity. The differences in behavior of a Bernard Madoff or an Albert Schweitzer are like night and day and defy explanation. Of course we do place positive values on charity and doing good and brand as bad behavior cupidity. Maybe because the former champions goodness for all whereas the latter involves the "self"...somewhat narcissistic.
