Zebrawood...one of many endangered species

INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF FORESTS

Many years ago for recreation I worked in wood especially the semi-rare and rare species of lumber making the usual library table and book case. Fortunately in my city there was Paxton Lumber Company that specialized in such exotic products. They were indeed rare and costly. One of the species I used was Zebrawood and one of the most difficult to tool next to a Walnut cousin Mansonia. I never gave must thought about such species never existing for the lumber company and even the United States import restrictions would secure the species longevity. Now, that is not the case as many rare woods become scarce and even extinct.
