"Situational ethics" poll

Should ethics be situational?

I suppose that the question was not understood. I was simply asking if ethical norms should be modified to fit specific situations and evolving social activities. I can remember when recreational use of marijuana was severely punished in this state commanding a hefty fine and long prison time. That has changed now. Of course, in some cases certain human activities, such as those involving crimes against another individual, would pretty much remain the same.
