It starts here in late September and runs into the middle of October. Alcohol is mandatory.I have no idea about the turkey legs either...but they are tasty.Mercuryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13757909461674304095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5216738179263317509.post-64387343349010518342011-08-06T20:48:19.879-07:002011-08-06T20:48:19.879-07:00For some reason, the New Jersey Renaissance Faires...For some reason, the New Jersey Renaissance Faires always are held in June! We couldn't have alcohol at either Ren fair in which I performed. As for turkey legs, I have no idea what the connection with the Renaissance is.

We had a guy at the fair I did in June who looks like Shakepeare and gets paid to do his own gig at Ren fairs. He even led a canoe trip where he told stories and actually jumped into the (man-made) lake.Laurel Kornfeldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02387883186244337619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5216738179263317509.post-35679660436621161932011-08-06T17:22:12.202-07:002011-08-06T17:22:12.202-07:00Somehow Laurel, I figured you would be in some Ren...Somehow Laurel, I figured you would be in some Renaissance activity. I knew that there was some astronomy in Shakespeare's plays, but never the depth discussed in the two articles. Renaissance Festivals will soon be here...ah, beer and a turkey leg.Mercuryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13757909461674304095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5216738179263317509.post-57676682319731440022011-08-06T17:08:10.609-07:002011-08-06T17:08:10.609-07:00All of this is absolutely fascinating, especially ...All of this is absolutely fascinating, especially to those of us interested in both literature and astronomy. I performed in a Renaissance Faire this past June as the court astrologer to a fictional duke, and prepared by doing extensive research on John Dee and science during the Renaissance. Interestingly, Clyde Tombaugh, discoverer of Pluto, was a Shakespeare fan himself, according to his daughter, whom I met back in 2008.Laurel Kornfeldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02387883186244337619noreply@blogger.com
